She is the author of numerous articles and three books, including: Nonviolent Revolutions: Civil Resistance in the Late 20th Century (2011, Oxford University Press); Religion and War Resistance in the Plowshares Movement (2008, Cambridge University Press); and Convictions of the Soul: Religion, Culture, and Agency in the Central American Solidarity Movement (2004, Oxford University Press).

If you want a comprehensive, useful, and insightful survey on nonviolent protests, Dr. Nepstad's book delivers. Understanding the types, strategies, and examples of results is important in learning from the past while thinking about what might work in the future. Within this book, you also understand the effectiveness of nonviolent protests in delivering desired change. A helpful book.
Nepstad's work is a welcome contribution to our understanding of nonviolence. Her book is exceptionally structured, clearly articulated and brimming with poignant insights. I'd recommend this book to anyone seeking a pointed introduction to the 'field' of nonviolence - one of the best I've encountered thus far.
I've had the pleasure of taking a class on nonviolence from this author. The book she has written is concise, engaging, and one in which I am currently reading again. This book and author has made a huge impact on my life, how I see the world, and has made me feel empowered.
